Hotel Bel-Air Spa
A favorite of celebrities and high-profile guests since 1946, Hotel Bel-Air offers a retreat away from the noise and flash of Downtown Beverly Hills. With its 12 acres of lush gardens, tranquil ponds, and signature oval pool, the property feels like a luxury hideaway, and the spa only further exemplifies its luxurious ethos.
Designed by Alexandra Champalimaud, the spa evokes the feeling of an intimate and serene sanctuary. Its warm red oak floors, hand-painted walls, and three-dimensional floral ceilings create a sense of calming ambiance. The treatment rooms and relaxation lounge are adorned with soft velvet chaises, creamy cashmere blankets, and plush pillows.
The 103 rooms and suites are spacious with large windows and private balconies. Each features elegant décor reminiscent of the hotel’s heritage, and the bathrooms are beautifully appointed with white marble soaking tubs, custom wood vanity, and hand-painted details.
The property’s signature garden is a wonder to behold, with rose-colored mission-style bungalows nestled in amongst the bougainvillea, ficus, and orange blossom. The resort’s restaurants feature fresh California cuisine, and shopping on North Rodeo Drive is just a short drive away. Chuan Spa
Chuan Spa is the only Southern California destination to unite cutting-edge beauty technology with indulgent rituals grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The 11,000-square-foot space features 12 treatment rooms including two couple’s suites, a VIP Suite with its own private wet zone, plus a Contemplation Lounge and Dream Room; sauna, aromatic steam and whirlpool baths; dedicated wellness, movement and fitness settings; and a full-service salon and spa boutique.
Its Five Element approach helps guests find their “inner energy” and restore balance. Upon arrival, a guest is guided to their specific element and then pampered with a spa treatment tailored specifically to them. From there, they’re gifted a post-treatment element tea and techniques that utilize acupuncture points along the body’s meridian system.
While some of the spa’s treatments are a little on the pricey side, the service is top notch. Several of the therapists have been with the spa for years, which is unusual in this industry of high turnover. Burke Williams, the spa’s head massage therapist, is a real gem.
The hotel’s two pools are a great spot to soak up some LA sunshine; the older Lanai pool has stately Roaring ’20s vibes while the newer Royce Pool emits clubby Palm Springs resort-style vibes. It’s also home to Travelle, the second-floor spa restaurant by American chef Tim Graham serving dishes like pomegranate braised lamb shank and boar ragu.
