Directions and tips for drivers going from Atlanta to New York

With a few people sharing the driving, you could finish in a few days if you take the fastest way, which is 880 miles long and takes about 14 hours. Multiple freeway routes will take you through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey before you get to Manhattan. Another route goes through Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Whatever road you pick, you'll see a lot along the way.

The best road

These are the starting points for all the different lines that go from Atlanta to New York City. Prior to picking the scenic route, make sure to check the road conditions as it goes through several national forests, some of which may be hilly. Itinerary includes a stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is a beautiful road in the United States.

Take US Highway 23 north from Atlanta to get to Asheville, North Carolina. Since both Asheville and Roanoke are in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway connects them.

Driving east on Highway 460 through Lynchburg, Virginia, and then heading north on Highway 29 toward Charlottesville. Continue on Highway 15 into Pennsylvania, past Frederick, Maryland, and onto Highway 30 through Lancaster County.

When you get to Allentown, Pennsylvania, from I-476 north, take I-78 east toward your final destination, New York City.

Directions for a road trip

Compress non-perishable food: You'll be going through a lot of national parks on this trip, so there won't be many quick dinner choices. For a roadside lunch, bring snacks that won't go bad, like crackers, fruit, granola bars, beef jerky, and peanut butter jars. Do not forget to bring a blanket.

Beginning games early is recommended because no one wants to try to get tired kids to play a game. Play a few games like "I Spy" or "License Plate Game" to keep the kids' attention before the rides get boring.

Bring an overnight bag. After a long day of driving, no one wants to lift multiple bags into a hotel room. An overnight bag or carry-on luggage with pajamas, toiletries, a change of clothes, and any valuables you don't want to leave in your car overnight will make your life easier.

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

What's the point of driving through a random Pennsylvania county? Experience how the Amish, who are also called Pennsylvania Germans, live their lives, which are mostly free of technology. Since there are a lot of Amish living in this area, don't be surprised if you see a horse and carriage on the road! There are likely to be some Amish people along the way.

BILTMORE'S ESTATE

This 1895-finished, luxurious house is a must-see if you're ever in the Asheville, North Carolina, area. The Vanderbilt family built it as a summer home, and the rooms and grounds will make you feel like a king or queen.

Roanoke, Virginia

The view alone makes this town in the Blue Ridge Mountains worth a trip. Additionally, since it's close to the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, it's a great spot to eat or restock before going on the trail.

SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK

In this national park, there are rivers, rocky areas, and many kinds of animals. It is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy some fresh air while moving by going hiking or camping here.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.

Visit this historical park in Atlanta to start your tour by learning a bit about the past. That famous civil rights leader's childhood home and Ebeneezer Baptist Church, where he gave his speech, can both be seen.

Driving from Alaska to the US?

Alaska is accessible by car from all US states except Hawaii. Refer to MapQuest's driving directions for the fastest way to get there. Only the Alaska Highway connects Alaska to the rest of the land. Starting in either the US or Canada, you will finally meet up with the Alaska Highway.

It was decided that the Alaska Highway would be a better way to get from the Lower 48 States to Alaska than by sea during World War II. The building's first general opening was in 1948.

Highway 97 in British Columbia, Alaska Route 2, and Yukon Highway 1 make up the highway.

Older versions of the road were 2,700 kilometers (1,700 miles) long and very rough. They have since been fixed up and are now only 1,387 miles (2,232 km) long and fully paved.

Driving from the United States to Alaska

According to mapquest directions, there are four ways to get to Alaska, depending on where in the US you are starting your trip.

Nearby North Dakota border points at Portal or Fortuna are where most Americans enter Canada. Westerners enter Canada at Sumas, which is near Vancouver. Mountain Standard Time people enter Canada at the Sweetgrass or Piegan–Carway borders in Montana.

Persons residing in Maine, who can easily travel to Alaska via the 4,500-mile Trans-Canada Highway, are the only ones not experiencing this issue. Thinking about whether you really want to do that instead of taking a bus and renting a car when you get there!

Would it be okay for me to drive from California to Texas independently?

I gotta go to Texas. Following the filling, I went to check the tires, radiator pipes, and other parts of the vehicle. I feel like going for a drive when it gets cool outside in the fall.

Utilizing MapQuest, I found the fastest way to get from California to Texas. I'll also share my plan here:

Commence in California. Sleep in Sequoia National Park after 42.5 hours of driving.

The next day, you'll drive for about five hours and then explore Barstow for about an hour. You'll get to Kingman after three more hours of drive. Come here and stay the night.

Today, you'll drive for three hours and then stay in Sedona for two hours. Three more hours of driving are needed to get to Petrified Forest National Park. Come here and stay the night.

When you get to Albuquerque the next day, you'll have been driving for about 3.5 hours. You'll get to Tucumcari after driving for another 2.5 hours. Come here and stay the night.

After a three-hour drive the next day, you'll spend about an hour in Lubbock. I'll finally get to Texas after almost six hours of driving.
