Madras University Distance Education Overview

The University of Madras (UOM), Chennai, was established in 1857 by an Act passed by the Legislative Council of India. It is a state university that is coed. Madras University has been approved by the UGC and has received a “A” grade from the NAAC. In the 2023 NIRF ranking, the university category ranked the institution 50th. The University of Madras offers 165 courses at three different levels. The three levels are UG, PG, and Diploma. The University of Madras offers a wide range of specialisations in its courses. Both the PG Diploma and Diploma levels of the diploma are offered by the institution.

Madras University offers eight postgraduate programmes. M.Phil. programmes are available at the University of Madras in a variety of subjects. Admission to University of Madras courses is based on scores obtained in the entrance tests and qualifying degree examinations.

Furthermore, the University of Madras provides placement opportunities in PSUs, government/private organisations, and other sectors to registered students. Students can apply for a large number of University of Madras scholarships, the majority of which are based on financial need rather than academic ability.

University of Madras Distance Education Admission Procedure

Madras University Admission Process is very fair. In UG programs admission will be done on the entrance exam which is conducted by University but only eligible applicants can appear in the entrance exam. For the PG program, admissions and selection will be done on a secured merit list in the entrance exam which is also conducted by University.
For the MBA course, applicants need to appear in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ XAT entrance exam. while for Diploma courses, admissions will be done on secured marks in the last qualifying exam.
