The UGC (University Grants Commission) recently granted permission to 38 universities to offer online courses, according to the National Education Policy 2020. Online courses will be offered by Mysore University, Shiv Nadar University, OP Jindal Global University and Amity University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and many more.
By September 2020, the UGC had set down multiple regulations for all online courses. Universities that have been recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a score of over 3.01 on a scale of 4 or are ranked in the top 100 of the National Institutional Ranking Framework are eligible for fully distance learning programmes, according to the UGC circular.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the legislative authority in India accountable for managing, establishing, and upholding higher education standards. Any institution other than a university established by or under a Central Act, a State Act, or a Provincial Act may not use the term “university.”
