Is it time to put your grill (Does not include Mesh Basket ) away for the winter? Don’t forget to prep your grill for storage! Whether you have a gas, electric, or charcoal grill, here are some quick and easy steps to follow before putting your grill away for the season.

Cleaning the inside of your barbecue

Cleaning the inside of your barbecue thoroughly will ensure it's in perfect condition. Do this after the barbecue has cooled down to a warm, rather than hot, temperature – after the previous step – as you'll find that the debris is easier to remove. A wire brush is one of the best ways to clean your barbecue grill. Next, you can let your barbecue become cool and clean it with simple soap water and rinse it thoroughly to ensure no soap residue lingers.

Cleaning the outside of your barbecue

As with the inside of your barbecue, warm soapy water is often the best option for cleaning the outside of your barbecue. If your barbecue exterior is metal, you can buff it with a dry cloth to give it a shine; you may want to do this again when taking the barbecue out again next year.

Use a Waterproof Grill Cover

A grill cover is a great way to protect your grill from both moisture and dust. Find one that completely covers your grill and has a snug fit. Make sure your grill is completely dry before adding the cover. Then, wrap the cover around the grill and secure it tightly on the bottom. A cover is also beneficial for protecting the exterior of your grill from scratches during transit and storage. Do not use a tarp to cover your grill, as it will be too rough and cause cosmetic damage.

Store Your Propane Tank Properly

Since propane tanks should never be stored indoors and are not permitted in storage units, you’ll need to make sure your propane tank is kept somewhere safe. The best place to keep them while they’re not in use is outside at least ten feet away from anything flammable. Metal shelving units are a safe storage option for your propane tank, and they won’t clutter your outdoor space.
