A week from now 20 percent of the men coaching NFL teams, or more, will likely be out of work. A season that saw the hot seat already sizzling in September and firings start in October has nearly reached its conclusion. And the annual churn is about to begin, perhaps in sweeping fashion. We've already established where the scrutiny is most significant, and we know which owners have major decisions to mull over. The more intriguing question concerns where the next batch of come from. With so many A-list guys either staying in the broadcast booth or remaining on a college campus, the options are somewhat limited. Some would argue that demand has outpaced supply. But in the end there will be a bevy of firings, and, thus, a bevy of hirings. The latest from SportsLineAfter spending the last several weeks chatting with various figures connected to the upcoming searches -- coaches, execs, agents -- I've come up with a list that will mirror the template for what several teams are likely to explore when this madne s beginsnext Monday. This could be a year where a curveball or two is thrown, just given the paucity of "can't-mi s" types who are available. There could be someone who lands a job that is a little off the radar, or, at least, outside the group of Brandon Dubinsky Kids Jersey five or six coordinators who most would project as the top guys on the market. Some of these men have earned the right to be more particular and discriminating than others. Some will be gung-ho to get their first NFL head-coaching opportunity regardle s of the locale or prowe s of the ownership group or the realistic hope of adequate support from a personnel or organizational standpoint. Some are getting a second, and in many cases, last opportunity to lead an NFL team after reinventing themselves as coordinators. For others this will be the first time they've receiving any sort of significant interest from clubs about head-coaching vacancies.Hot CoordinatorsJosh McDaniels (New England): He may be the one branch of the Bill Belichick family tree to one day perhaps rival his mentor. He's a brilliant offensive mind whose leadership and people skills have matured significantly since his stint as head coach of the . Hard to see him failing twice, and he has no shortage of believers around the league. Owners would be smart to have a cohesive plan ready to present when they do sit down with him and he's a smart cookie who will have done plenty of his own homework. A job like the or would be particularly appealing to him, according to some who know him well.Doug Marrone (Jacksonville):Technically, he's not a coordinator but the a sistant will be in demand after exercising his ability to leave as Buffalo's head coach a year ago. He has plenty of advocates in high places and had Bill Polian taken over the last year Marrone would still be there (and maybe the team would be in the playoffs). Rex Ryan's i sues in Buffalo shine a more positive light on Marrone. He's a natural to replace Sean Payton in New Orleans should he leave. Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam is a fan as well. Sean McDermott (Carolina): The defense has been excellent for a while under him and he cut his teeth in Philadelphia under a master in Jim Johnson. If you are looking for a defensive-minded coordinator, this is your guy. You are part of a team that flirts with history, you are going to get noticed.Hue Jackson (Cincinnati): Has done marvelous things with , and in a quarterback-driven league, nothing gets an owner's attention like that. He had a rough ending to his stint at head coach, but that was undoubtedly a learning experience as well under unusual circumstances (the pa sing of Al Davis). Should the secure a first-round bye, it's hard to imagine too many teams not at least attempting to secure an interview with him during Wild Card Weekend.Adam Gase (Chicago): Two years ago Jimmy Haslam would have moved heaven and earth to get him. Perhaps Haslam can land him now. Gase has earned accolades for his work with various quarterbacks, including this season, and he has had some top-notch mentors, including Nick Saban and Mike Martz. The may be kicking themselves for not hiring him a year ago. Mike Shula (Carolina): His last name certainly doesn't hurt him, his experience as head coach at a big-time college school (Alabama) doesn't either, and his exploits with in what is likely an MVP award season for the quarterback will have plenty of important people taking notice.Teryl Austin (Detroit): His defense lost a ton of talent and the obviously had a rough first half, but the way the players fought in the second half of the season and the improvement he helped engender bodes well for him. He impre sed plenty of decision makers through the interview proce s a year ago and he'll be even sharper Markus Hannikainen Jersey having already gone through it for the first time.Matt Patricia (New England): He has learned from a master in Belichick and has rebuilt that defense into a top unit despite the defection of players like Darrelle Revis. He can reinvent the look of the team each week, and while this might not be the year he makes the jump, it might not be much longer. Doug Pederson (Kansas City): has had a career year late in his career, the haven't lost a gamein two monthsand the offense actually got better after the lo s of do-everything star running back . Another pupil of Andy Reid -- he has sent plenty of a sistants to head-coaching jobs over the years -- who seems to have grown and developed under him and could be ready for his next challenge.Former head coaches (not currently in the league)Mike Smith: He's the third-fastest NFL coach to ever reach 50 wins, and he is ready to get back in, according to those close to him. He feels good and eager to get another shot after a succe sful stint turning around the . Atlanta's struggles this season don't exactly hurt Smith's chances. The i sues there ran beyond just coaching.Jim Schwartz: Currently working at the league office, and still young and driven. His stint as Buffalo's defensive coordinator in 2014 was strong (looks even better given Rex Ryan's struggles there this year) and the Bills didn't want him to leave in the first place. He will be selective, but he has ties to the Dolphins through his Bill Parcells/Belichick family tree and for some teams (Indy, San Diego, Miami) it is almost impo sible to see them not wanting to go with a guy with former NFL head-coaching experience. DarkhorsesTom Cable (Seattle): The offensive line coach was a part of reworking a unit on the fly and getting the pa s protection and run game turned around despite having le s-than-established personnel to work with. He managed to go .500 as the Raiders' head coach and while he has some allegations in his past that he'd have to account for, he has been a big part of the ' rise to prominence and his players love him.Jim Mora (UCLA): He has an NFL pedigree and while he loves what he's doing, and especially the quarterback he is working with now, I have a hard time believing he doesn't give the pro game another crack at some point. It would require a substantial buyout, but particularly a job like the would have significant appeal to him according to some.Karl Dorrell (Jets): New York's receivers coach has seen his group post historically significant seasons, and he has abundant experience in the college and pro game. He is also the only African-American candidate with a winning record as head coach of either an NFL team or a Power 5 college conference team (Dorrell went 35-27 as coach at UCLA). Mike Munchak (Steelers): You don't hear much about the Steelers' offensive line coach, and he keeps a low profile Seth Jones Kids Jersey , but he overcame injuries to coach up players along the way and he has prior head-coaching experience with the Titans. Not the most dynamic guy in the world, but is well thought of by the advisory panel set up by the NFL to a sist teams with their searches.Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern): Most believe he'll never leave that school where he has dedicated himself as a player and coach, but that won't stop teams from at least sniffing around. He has routinely competed in the Big Ten without the talent of many other schools.Ben McAdoo (Giants): If the Giants move on from Tom Coughlin, McAdoo will at least merit a look. The Maras like to keep things within the family, they wouldn't want to have shift to another new offense and/or coordinator if they don't have to and he could work well with Steve Spagnuolo in the event management wanted to keep him on as well. Hottest GM candidatesIf the past holds, many of the most sought-after GM candidates will be content to stay where they are. Nick Caserio of the Patriots and Eric DeCosta of the Ravens certainly fit that description, but as the weeks have gone on I've become much more inclined to believe Eliot Wolf might actually be willing to leave Green Bay for the right job. I've continued to hear a strong buzz about him in Cleveland, among other places (many believe Wolf's father, Ron, will end up consulting for Haslam on the Browns' forthcoming overhaul) and the sense is he will at least explore several options, though the Packers are in his heart and blood.Minnesota executive George Paton is going to be coveted for several jobs and if he's willing to leave the , finally (some still wonder), then I can't imagine him not landing a job. I'm baffled that Omar Khan, an invaluable part of the Steelers organization and a finalist for several jobs, isn't already running his own team. Trent Kirchner is getting a strong push from the Seattle organization and he will have opportunities to interview.Numerous sources say the Dolphins will be shaking up their front office, including making a change at GM, and they could do a lot worse than promoting Chris Grier to that position from within their own ranks. I've become increasingly convinced that former GM Chris Polian will get another opportunity. If the Colts' front office is blown up (again), as many expect, teams would be wise to scoop up exec Jimmy Raye III, who is viewed as a GM-in-the-making. Chiefs exec Chris Ballard has been getting looks for a few years now and will be very selective, but the rise of that team through the season should create plenty of buzz for him again, too. My hunch is a good number of the Jordan Schroeder Jersey forthcoming GM hires come from that list right there.More news and notes from Week 16 in the NFL: I've been critical of in the past -- and frankly he's brought it on himself -- but if his approach to his craft since landing in Baltimore is an indication of his dedication to salvaging his career, then the best is yet to come. I'm not going to get carried away with a few good weeks of hard workand one excellent start against a tough Steelers team -- but if he can maintain solid habits and stay out of trouble, he'll have a chance to be a regular backup next season and perhaps set himself up for a nice payday in another year. He was steady and heady and confident without being cockySunday-- a nice departure -- and in a lost season for the Ravens, if they found a decent cheap backup for 2016 (with recovering from ACL and MCL tears) to go with running backs in Buck Allen and and a receiver in , it at least provides a silver lining in having to play so many games that lacked real meaning in the standings. The Browns might want to give real consideration to going with a defensive-minded head coach. That side of the ball is a wreck. They lost again, in large part, to getting the ball run all over them when they could least afford it. Case in point: Alex Smith had over 50 yards rushing at the half.Kansas City became the latest foe to rush for over 130 yards on them (at 5 yards per carry), and on a day when the pa sing game suffered, the defense allowed Smith to sustain far too many drives on the ground. Righting that long-suffering run defense has to be high on the list of whoever takes over the Browns. It's not just about there. The Packers have problems. I get Mike McCarthy downplaying everything and talking about 10 wins is nothing to scoff at. I also know this isn't the team many thought it would be or the Packers hoped they would be. The lack of production in the red zone continues to haunt them. Green Bay still seems to be more like a team that's scrounging for a decent play or two than one Taylor Chorney Kids Jersey that is operating a master plan with each sequence linked to the next in a confounding pattern. The Packers just don't seem to trust in all that much that they do, and they're running out of time to get it fixed. Few quarterbacks seem to invite more disaster around the end zone than . It seems like he has flirted with trouble whenever backed up near his own goal line on drives this season and the safetyon Sunday was yet another indicator. He threw a pick in the end zone and then, with the game on the line and first-and-goal from the 5-yard line, there were three straight incompletions and a bizarre sack in which half of his offensive line seemed to have no idea what was going on. It will be interesting to see how long his next coach is willing to devote to trying to make him into a winning NFL quarterback and I can't imagine that 2016 is not a make-or-break year for him in Miami. Consider me among those who think Bill Belichick outsmarted himself on the overtime decision to kick first. The Jets seemed to be a little rattled after New England's late comeback, where the Pats were rallying on long fourth downs and keeping the drive moving. The Jets still needed to win for playoff purposes, and the pre sure was on. Put on the field and go for the throat and try to end the game. It doesn't make sense to me to boot the ball there, especially on a day when the Jets receivers were presenting problems. just continues to impre s. He was not sharp earlySunday, and was repeatedly overthrowing open receivers. It looked like it might not be his day. Yet he managed to once again stave off turnovers -- they really haven't been an i sue this season, which is kind of shocking given his recent history -- and he connected on several big plays late. I can't imagine he ends up anywhere than back with coordinator Chan Gailey in New York. Come up with a 2-3 year deal that makes sense and get that done. This is the best football of his career and you get the sense there is more to come if they can keep this group together. You will never be able to explain to me how the Steelers' pa sing offense had 49 yards in the first half against the Ravens. Sure, the three turnovers tell some of the story, but they had a bunch of turnovers against the Seahawks a few weeks back and still put up record yardage. Something wasn't right there. Maybe they were overconfident. Maybe they started listening to all the considerable hype about their unstoppable offense (and I was as guilty as anyone of talking up that unit), but if they mi s the playoffs, everyone in that organization will know that two bad lo ses to the rival Ravens kept them out at a time when many believed if they got in as a wild card it wouldn't be a stretch to see them in Santa Clara in February.
