Can a 13 year old fly alone on Spirit Airlines?

According to Spirit Airlines' Unaccompanied Minors policy, children aged 5 to 14 can travel alone on direct domestic flights (including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) if they use the Unaccompanied Minors service. 

 

Spirit Airlines does not accept unaccompanied minors on the following flights:

 

  • Flights to other countries
  • Domestic flight connections
  • Domestic flights that cause a change of plane

 

Unaccompanied Minor Requirements 

 

  • Spirit Airlines' policy on Unaccompanied Minors additionally states:
  • Children under the age of four aren't allowed to travel alone without they are accompanied by an adult traveller.
  • Children aged 5 to 14 are only allowed to fly as alone kids on direct domestic routes that do not must an alteration of plane or flight registration.
  • The Unaccompanied Minors service is optional for children aged 15 and up. They must, but, bring a photo ID or birth certificate to show their age, even if they are travelling alone. The service price for kids who are alone will be applied only if the service request. 
  • Unaccompanied Minors will be admitted only if they have a confirmed reservation.
  • Flights that project to finish before or bypass the minor's destination owing to severe weather or other reasons will not accept unaccompanied minors.

How to Book Spirit Airlines Unaccompanied Minors Service Online Step 1. To book the Without accompaniment Minors service online, make a reservation via the internet as you usually would—go to Spirit.com and input your child's trip details. 

 

Step 2. After entering the trip details, select (from the dropdown box) that a child is travelling on the aircraft (see below).

 

Step 3: Enter the number of children flying and press the 'Search Flights' button. 

 

Step 4: In the pop-up box, enter your child's birth date (MM/DD/YYYY) and click the 'Continue' button. 

 

Step 5: A pop-up (shown below) will appear informing you whether your child is eligible to travel and displaying the per-way charge. Examine the policies for 'Unaccompanied Minor Acceptance' and click the 'Accept' button.

 

Step 6: Follow the on-screen instructions to:

 

  • Select your child's flight.
  • Choose a package (optional).
  • Enter your child's information.
  • Buy your child's (optional) bags. 
  • Select a seat and other choices. 
  • Enter your payment information.
  • Confirm the reservation and pay

 

Right away as you pay, you are going to get your kid's e-ticket.
