Former UFC Welterweight Champion, Kamaru Usman (20-3-0), thinks defeating Sweden’s top fighter Khamzat Chimaev (12-0-0) is a piece of cake. He made a declaration defeating the rising star Khamzat Chimaev- within four rounds. Both the fighters have shown their interest in the potential bout inside the cage. The anticipated match has generated a buzz around the MMA world.

A tease from Kamaru Usman

It’s not the first time they’ve provoked each other on social media, and the former welterweight champion did it again. Kamaru Usman predicted the matchup in a tweet. To that, Chimaev responded quickly.

Kumaru Usman’s fight might not happen

The former UFC Welterweight Champion, Usman, hasn’t fought in a non-title match since 2018. Also, he lost the welterweight title in 2022 to Leon Edwards. The last time Chimaev fought was in 2022, and rumors have circulated about his personal issues.

The reason the fight between Usman and Chimaev may not happen is that Usman suggested a catchweight, which is a weight limit different from the standard divisions. And UFD president, Dana White, in an interview with Joe Rogan declares that he doesn’t like catchlights. “I told Usman that I don’t do catch weights. Catchweights don’t mean anything. There’s nothing interesting or exciting about him because, at the end of the day, when the fight’s over, neither guy really advances in any way, shape, or form.”, Dana said.

Fans would love to witness this anticipated match as both the fighters are ready for the matchup but Dana White is showing his disagreement. Only time will reveal if it will possible to see both the fighter in the octane. Do you think that we’ll be able to see them soon fight together inside the cage? We would love to have your thoughts in the comments section.
