Steel-bonded Titanium carbide is a new kind of material made by powder metallurgy method with steel as the bonding phase and refractory metal carbide (titanium carbide) as the hard phase. Its performance is between cemented carbide and steel, with good machinability and wear resistance. Its technological characteristics are as follows.
a) High hardness and wear resistance. A large amount of refractory metal carbide (titanium carbide) is diffusively distributed in the steel bonded titanium carbide, which has high hardness and greatly improves the wear resistance of the product.
b) Good processability.Steel-bonded titanium carbide has good mechanical processing properties because of its basic material is alloy steel, which can be cut by turning, milling, planing, grinding and tapping with ordinary processing equipment and tools. And it has good weldability and castability. The basic material is a type of high manganese steel, which exists as a single austenite phase at room temperature and has high strength, which is beneficial to reduce the thermal stress during casting. It can be welded with ordinary high manganese steel electrode, and can also be connected with the steel body by casting, which is simple to operate and easy to produce, and can reduce the manufacturing cost and shorten the production time.
